Let's start with my love of soft sponges.
The key to a perfect finish is taking the time to create a beautiful sponge finish. Safer for your lungs than sanding, a damp sponge gently rubbed on the rim of a bowl or on your foot will remove any superficial scratches or fingerprints. This simple step takes about a minute per bowl and makes all the difference. Rub in a circular motion to remove deeper marks. There's no need to spend a lot on luxury sponges; my favorites can be found in Quebec pharmacies. They're denser and more durable. I also have a soft spot for round makeup sponges, which are incredibly affordable and easily fit into handles and curves.
